PARTNER PEER SUPPORT GROUP

Thank you for your interest in the Partners Peer Support Group. We are glad you are exploring getting support for yourself. Below is more information about these groups.

 

To be eligible, you must meet the following requirements:

  1. You must be 18 years of age or older.

  2. Must be a current partner (e.g., spouse, boyfriend, girlfriend, or a romantic partner of any gender identity) to a survivor of sexual harm that self-identifies as male/masculine-identifying.

  3. Have never been, and are not currently, on a sex offender registry.

  4. Complete an interview with one of our staff prior to acceptance for the group.

Our goal for the Partner Peer Support Group is to provide you, the partner, with support and understanding about how you are impacted by the sexual harm done to your loved one. In this group you are the focus. You have supported the male survivor in your life and now it's time for you to get the support you need. Our hope is that after the group that you (the partner) will continue to engage in healing activities and become part of a community.

 

These 90-minute groups will run for 8 sessions, every week. Topics of the group include: coping skills, understanding the impacts and reactions of sexual harm on the survivor and you, taking care of yourself, grief and loss, healing, loving a survivor, intimacy, and compassion. 

 

The Partner Peer Leader Group provides a healing experience based on skills-building, psychoeducation, and community-building and is NOT to be construed as psychotherapy or psychiatric services or as a substitute for personal therapy. 

We suggest that those wanting to join this group are currently in, or have attended some form of therapy in the past, whether individual, group, or both. However, it is not a requirement to join this group. 

 

Fees & Payment Plans

 

$200 for 8 group sessions ($25/each group session) with installment payments or one free session if you pay in full at the start of the group, which is then $175 for full payment. Financial assistance is available upon request for participants who have financial hardship (see below).  

 

Peer Leaders are survivors just like you. They are volunteers at MenHealing and have taken special training on facilitating peer support groups and for presenting the particular curriculum for this group. Peer Leaders have supervision by clinical staff for the duration of the group. 

 

Fees collected by MenHealing do not go to the Peer Leaders. The fees are to help support MenHealing programming and administrative costs.

Cancellation policy: Cancellations at least 14 days in advance will receive a refund minus one session's fee. Cancellations within 14 days will receive no refund as there is not enough time to fill that spot.
